Loss of bladder control in my dog?

my dog is around 9-10 years old, a golder retriever. In the last three days i've been noticing wet spots on the carpet, and when my mom was with her she randomly peed. We now think that she may be loosing control of her bladder. She's old so we know that could be why. What can we do?Loss of bladder control in my dog?
She could have a simple bladder infection that may require some antibiotics. Your vet should be able to run a simple test to tell you if that is what's going on. If not there a some medicines that they can give you that help control the bladder muscles. Sometime as pets get older especially in spayed females the lack of estrogen can cause the bladder muscles to weaken. PPA (phenopropinalamone) is the most commonly used medicine to treat this. The other thing it could be is dementia. Believe it or not some dogs just loose their cognitive abilities and can't remember what they are supposed to do. Your vet should be able to tell you whats going on fairly easily.Loss of bladder control in my dog?
Talk to your vet.

The first thing would be to rule out a urinary tract infection.

If that's not what it is, there's great veterinary drugs that do wonders for age related incontinence.
Take her to the vet. It could be an infection. It could be that she needs pills to help her get the control back. Find out what is wrong and take care of her.
My 10-year-old Lab had the same problem.

The vet ran some blood tests to determine that she had Cushing's. It was treatable, but the treatment is very tricky.

Hope that helps.
you could put a diaper on her. when you are away from the home confine her to a room and lay out puppy pads for her.
