Is hair loss a side effect of birth control?

yes! it is possible and can happen!!

year ago I suffered very much from dandruff and hair loss too and I started trying everything you can imagine to stop my hair loss.

the things that really worked for me was:

1) Vitamin A - an anti-oxidant which promotes healthy production of sebum in the scalp;

2) Vitamin E stimulates circulation. Good blood circulation in the scalp is important in keeping hair follicles productive. The 'B' vitamins contribute to melanin, which gives hair its healthy color and also stimulates blood circulation;

3) massage is also beneficial. Massage stimulates circulation. As already noted, good circulation in the scalp keeps hair follicles active. Experts suggest a few minutes of daily head massage by hand. Circulation through massage may be improved by using a few drops of lavender or bay essential oil in an almond or sesame oil base with massage;

4) Try rubbing your scalp with garlic juice, Onion Juice or Ginger Juice(you can either of one out of three, Do not mix any of two or three);

5) also he used herbal treatment - TrichoZed or/and Provilluss (do not use Rogaine - it will not work!)

Those are a good products that helps prevent hair loss and contains Biotin and the clinically tested ingredients approved by the FDA to help re-grow your hair.! I think it is very important!

It worked and still works for me!

I do not know if any pharmacies carry TrichoZed but I do know that you should purchase it directly from the manufacturer and read more about the product here

http://www.provilluss.infoIs hair loss a side effect of birth control?
In your case with taking the birth control pills, the process is probably somewhat different and I doubt the immune system is altered at all. Rather, the estrogen in the pills probably stimulated and prolonged the growth phase of many hair follicles. This causes more than the usual 10% of hairs to reach the resting phase and then the sloughing phase about 3-4 months later. The net result of this growth stimulation is a more than normal sloughing of hairs (normally 50-100 each day) several months down the line. In this case the hair loss should not be patchy like your basic disease but rather generalized. It usually only lasts for a month or two and the hairs resume a random growth pattern. When you stop the pills, the same process may take place because the growth phase shortens throwing more hairs into a resting phase several months later. Thus the pills can be causing some hair loss now, but the loss is not part of your disease process and will go away soon.Is hair loss a side effect of birth control?
Birth control pills and hair loss are interlinked. Mostly these pills have estrogen, which encourages hair growth and extends the growth period of hair follicles. Our curls reach the resting phase, which causes hair fall. These oral contraceptives cause a temporary loss of tresses.

The process of loosing curls is a disturbing phenomenon especially for women. Long and thick curls symbolize beauty and femininity. Balding in men is acceptable while women with a hairless scalp may look quite scary. In order to preserve your beautiful curls, you should take up nature-based products.

There are various causes of balding in women such as:

* The production of estrogen stops due to menopause, which consequently leads to hair fall.

* Pregnancy and childbirth can also cause this complication.

* Most women experiences different types of side effects such as fatigue, acne, headaches, mood swings, stress, depression, vomiting etc. due to consumption of birth control pills, which may further aggravate hair loss.

* The problem can be hereditary too which can be easily prevented.

* Some common day-to-day causes such as air pollution, water pollutions, and usage of harsh shampoo, hair bleaching etc. can also cause hair loss.

* Other factors that encourage balding are complications such as diabetes, anemia, anorexia and bulimia.

In order to preserve your curls, you should resort to organic products, which can easily moisturize and cleanse your scalp and encourage hair growth. Some of the most effective nature based ingredients are Apple polyphenols, Rooibos or red tea, and green tea.

good luck
Yes, I've have heard that there is a link between the two. If it's such a problem for you, you should talk to your doctor and have them give you a different pill maybe? One with less side effects.

PS: You might want to ask this in the Women's Health Section, they might be able to give you more helpful answers :)
are you a man or a woman? lol just kidding. with something like that i'd skip the internet search and talk to the doc
