Colonia/American revolutionWhy did British tax policies represented a loss of control to many colonials?
The British were taxing the colonial Americans without the colonials having any input into the types and levels of taxes. It was referred to as ';taxation without representation'; and it was a key factor in the Revolution. As the Colonials began to resist the taxes, the British responded by sending troops and assessing heavier taxes.
Hope this helps.
